The image on my computer screen (the Ducati 1198 I destroyed on Memorial Day) and my left middle finger (that was nearly severed in that accident) keep reminding me that 2009 was a year of tests, suffering and endurance.

Farnsworth Bank - Middle Pinnacles

Farnsworth Bank is half mile wide seamount
consisting of several pinnacles.  Situated 5 Miles south from the west
side of Catalina, Farnsworth is exposed to all weather conditions and strong
currents, making it an advanced dive. Farnsworth is also an
ecological reserve where Purple Hydrocoral is protected. This is
reflected in its presence all over Farnsworth Bank.
This new virtual dive site covers specifically the CENTRAL portion of Farnsworth Bank.
While diving, You will see a vast array of sealife at Farnsworth bank including but
not limited to: purple hydrocoral covered walls (which are protected),
red gorgonians, strawberry anemones, octopus, egg cowrie shells,
keyhole limpets, blacksmiths, blue & red striped nudibranchs,
torpedo rays, sheephead, and the occasional yellowtail and barracuda if

r9 Simulator
Coming in January

The time for a new release of the simulator is approaching and we are planning to release r9 by the end of January.
r9 will have some interesting improvements such as Nitrox tanks, a "Technical Diver" mode (with twins and stage tanks), simulation of Nitrogen Narcosis (yes, no more deep dives on air only), multiple dive lights and simulation of Helium (finally).
But, in my opinion, the most interesting new feature will be ...... NIGHT LOBSTER HUNTING !
In this game site you will compete against your dive buddies to catch as many "regular" lobsters as possible.
But, it is not going to be easy. The lobsters are smart; will sense your approach and will fly to safety. Also, you will need to properly calibrate your strength; too much and you could crash the lobster, too little and the lobster will escape.

Pro Plus 2 Specialty Class

We have been working for quite some time with Oceanic to integrate their dive computers into eDiving and to create online specialty classes.
I am happy to report that today Oceanic have  announced the Online Specialty Class for their Pro Plus 2 Dive Computer.
This Online Specialty Class provides 3 benefits: a) help you to research the Pro Plus 2 before purchasing one, b) help you to learn how to use your Pro Plus 2 via an interactive and effective learning environment with lots of videos, how-to examples, quizzes and final test, and c) provide an easy to search online multimedia manual of your Pro Plus 2.
The Pro Plus 2 specialty class is designed using the eDiving simulator and contains lots of simulated diving scenarios demonstrating how the Pro Plus 2 operates. This class is accessible via the Internet using a browser.
